White Bougainvillea Progression
Quite a few years ago, my Mum gave me a cutting from a friends white Bougy and I have grown it into a semi Cascade form.
it is looking quite spectacular at the moment and thought I would post here as a progression thread for you all to enjoy.
It is growing in my standard mix of 2/3 Diatomite, 1/3 Zeolite, and is in full sun year round.
Fertilised with Miracle Drow and Charlie Carp, alternating fortnightly, and Neutrog 'Sudden Impact" pellets on the substrate surface.

Re: White Bougainvillea Progression
Inspiring Ken, especially since I just put one in the ground here. Looking forward to seeing just how white it is once it starts blooming. Thanks for sharing!
That other bonsai looks to be growing faster. What are you feeding that one?

Thanks Ken
I used to think purchasing a bonsai is expensive. Now they seem cheaply priced after learning the time, effort and skill required. Great progression series!

No special treatment at all. Water when the substrate starts to dry, 2 times a day in Summer, and once other times of the year.
Karl that other one grows like a weed and eats everything in sight

Re: White Bougainvillea Progression
Very nice bougy Ken. Lovely display of flowers. Your obviously doing something right with the care and feeding. There is hope for my little bougy yet. I picked up a white one a while back because it had great movement down low but it looks like your first photo but there is hope. I plan to pot into a larger container and feed it up. Then in about 9 yrs by the looks of it I should have something worth showing.
Has it always been in a pot?
Josh.

Re: White Bougainvillea Progression
I can never forget this bougie...I saw it before here and went looking for a white bougie to style as cascade....so I got one ...and that I hope should tell you how much I like it.
I ask lots of questions that sound like suggestions. Please remember I am a inquisitive newbie trying to figure out why You made a particular decision, in order to learn.

THanks Neli
Josh yes it has been in this pot ever since potting up originally. Gets repotted every 2 years or so.
Jason Yes it is a normal sized flower, not a mini. The leaves are not the standard large round ones. They are about 3cm long and elliptical.

Ken
I was wondering when a good time to take a cutting would be and if these take easily or need a little special care.
Reason I ask is I have seen a white one near me and I'm thinking of knocking on the door and asking to take a few cuttings.
Cheers

You can take cutting at any time with bougy, the warmer the better tho.
Keep them humid and they will root easily.
Also just repotted this one today, a little bit later than usual but should be fine.
