Re: Azalea's galore
These are a few of the survivors in flower , the need a good hack and chop but at least their green and growing
Cheers Alpineart
I did dig 1 - 25 yo Karume the other week but with family and friends visiting I forgot to pot it up , I think its now cactus , but with a hard hack and a good soak it may spring back to life .Cheers Alpineart

Hi Mel' in full flower the foliage is completely covered with flowers . Considering the neglect they have gone through they are doing very well .

Re: Azalea's galore
Wow these are very impressive!
Any tips on keeping a healthy azalea? I've got what was titled as a 'Red Rocket' or 'Carnival Red' and the flowers are turning white and dying. Sort of like the colour is fading out
Was being kept in full sun and recently added osmocote all purpose slow release fert. Moved it to a shady spot hoping it will help

Re: Azalea's galore
Hi Action' these are kept under the shade of a gum tree all year round , fert with azalea or citris food and yes I use Rustica Plus fert every now and again . They are growing in scoria and pine bark the same as everything else around here , other than that now other special treatment .
They are definately in need of a major cut back then a possible styling as they are all basically "as dug" from my terraces before laying the rock retaining walls .
Cheers . Alpine

This is the early bird of the bunch

The flowers on this particular one are very short lived lasting only a few day per flower . The base on this is over 100mm Cheers . Alpineart

Re: Azalea's galore
Hi Joe.sab , thanks for the feedback , nothing is easy but they are all worthwhile . They grow well in the ground up this way , but struggle here in a pot due to the extreme heat .
Good luck.

Re: Azalea's galore
Hey AlpineArt, I hope you don't mind (it is not my intent to hijack your thread - rather just add a photo to your beauties) but my step-dad sent me a photo of one of his azalea's a few weeks ago. I love this tree.

All good MJL , I have one similar in the ground at around 1.0m in height and width . I plan to dig it after flowering .
