I appreciate and respect your feed back fellas.... However I will be staying with the current direction I have chosen and continuing to develop the tree.

For me Bonsai is all about my own personal taste... if it pleases me then im happy.

Thanks again.

Hello Illya.

Great tree and whilst perhaps not 100% reminiscent of a Pear it is most pleasing nonetheless.

It has got me thinking now that you have achieved this result - what the next stages might be for this tree?
Seeing the tree "naked" as they say it makes me wonder whether a larger tree with a more natural taper (in particular near the top) is where this tree could reach new heights (pun intened ;) ).

What are your plans?
One of the fabulous things about growing bonsai is as you get old and decrepit your trees get old and beautiful

No major plans for the time being... will be letting the lower branches thicken up and work on the ramification.

I understand this tree has flaws, just like many other bonsai trees.

Overall i am pleased with its progression over the past 4 years.... See what the next 10 or so years bring.

Living in the sub-tropics as I do, I never see pear trees in colour, let alone as bonsais.....wow, those orange leaves!

I have reduced the crown over summer/autumn and plan on defoliating and rewiring the whole tree towards then end of winter.

Here is a progression video i made on this one.

Here are some update pictures as the new leaves are coming through.

Once again this season i will focus on letting the lower branches grow freely to thicken up and thin out the top.

This has been the biggest challenge with this tree.
