You Stink!.......but your so pretty.
Another couple of pics of a common privet I've been developing - this came free, rescued from a roadside collection dump with household junk around 9 years ago. The local council collection truck came and left it behind.. even they did not want it
Asked the owner if I could take it after passing it by a few times - It was by then a very dead looking stump full of crawlies.
Took it home and played it some Barry White music and "yada yada yada...." the results today. It has a "rich" aroma.
regards..Keep Calm.

I think it is great. You can put up with the short smell for the beauty.
Privets are maligned but do make great bonsai.

Thanks for your comment Watto,
(I had to look up definition of "Maligned" - so you've taught me something. )

And with the flowers will come berries, lots of them by the look of it. Nice job.

Very nice . Have you grown Premma Japonica aka Stinky maple up there . I have 3 examples and all came from the Newcastle region. The leafs have a odour when rubbed and they do get a little flower and berries on them

Thanks to all for the supportive comments - really appreciative.
Matthew,
No mate I have never even heard of that species till now. Still learning a lot on plant species from this site & good people like yourself that are willing to post.
I will have to keep an eye out for it around here - it sounds really interesting.
It seems us Novocastrians are a stinky bunch, but we are all very modest & extremely good looking!
Keep Calm...my friends!

I just love Privets. Not in the garden, but certainly as bonsai.
The variety and ability to develop is fantastic.
