Satsuki Azalea

Post by Photo Lindsay »

finally got some spare time to quickly pop back into see leong at bonsai south and pick up the new addition!! :tu: most of my trees are collected from when i used to be a landscaper, so im excited to finally pick something up from bonsai south to go along with some of my other azalea's (like the one you can catch a glimpse off in the background ;) )

its a fantastic little satsuki, thinking it could be nachi-no-tsuki after talking with leong but will play the waiting game after a few cycles of blooms. but then again my fingers are itchy and i cant wait to get stuck into this epic stock

only had 15 mins left of day light to take some photos on the phone. but will start to clean this up, then post for some input from everyone ;)

Ken

Thanks ken :tu:

its such a nice little tree and i cant wait to start styling it before i run out of time as work has taken a bit of a control at the moment.

but debudded the other week before it went to flower and managed to missed one, not the end of the world but helpful to start the identification process.

Here is the little flower that slipped under my nose, nice light reddish-purple bloom.... hinting it could be a "blue tip" due it the crinkle in the petals.

any who, styling will come first hopefully next few days, recovery and then perhaps this pot in a season or two.

its a pot that my father owned and have been saving it for a special tree. unfortunately i dont know much about it besides it was bought in sydney back in the 70's and has a little "made in japan" sticker. i have another pot with the same sticker but has anyone come across these pots?

That’s a great pot!

I’m looking forward to seeing the whole composition.

Hi Linz,
I have 2 similar "Made in Japan" pots + stickers. A friend picked them at a a garage sale and gave them to me. Only small and a similar blue glaze. I'd be interested to know a bit more about them too, but my guess is they are mass produced and nothing special :palm:
Love the azalea. Should go well with the pot :tu:

is this the pot that you might have? this one also has slightly different "made in japan" sticker and looks like it would be mass produced, i wouldn't be surprised.

Cant imagine a pot without a chop mark being something special or of value but the one intended for the azalea has more of a sentimental price more than anything :tu:

Anywho, i came home early the other day and noticed the single bloom sparkling as the afternoon sun beamed through.

hope you all enjoy the photo, something a little different....cant wait for monday as this will be getting a hair cut! ;)

Yep, that looks pretty much the same pot, and blue as well. Even so, sentiment is priceless.
