jacaranda shohin?

Post by melbrackstone »

I have been keeping this stump in a pot cut back hard.... does anyone have one in a small pot?

The Nepenthes pitcher behind is around around 25cm tall.

Hi Melb.
I have one in a small pot but not that small. It's under development though so I let it grown and the. Chop it down and the saga continues. I didn't put it in the ground as I don't have the space.

Thanks Akhi, I'm wondering if I should just keep it in this pot and keep chopping it back, or pot it into a shohin pot and stunt it completely. :)

Thanks Kevin, I'm following that thread too. :)

I thought it was a little bigger than shohin though?

No matter if it is or isn't.

Regarding them flowering, I've seen a number of flowering jacarandas in bonsai pots in the last week, on facebook. It seems that you just have to let them have their head every now an again...bit like crepe myrtle, I guess.

Hi Mel... I'd love to see one, but as yet havn't and from everything I've read, they just refuse to flower, even if let go. I have a fairly decent old stump and thought of letting it go this season - If I could be convinced I'd have half a chance.
They're everywhere atm in flower and they look fantastic don't they...?

They do look fantastic when they're in flower, Rob, and that makes them even more enticing.
