Bought this almost 2 years ago Dec 2016, decided to pot up straight away and keep hydrated and shaded over that summer, well this year it has really produced.
First two photos were two weekends ago, and then today.

Re: Azalea Progression
Maybe Satsukis Ken. Satsuki are later flowering types. My Satsukis have just started flowering this week as the Indicas and Kurumes are finishing. That is a late flowering for Sydney.

Re: Azalea Progression
Yes, I believe I have a Satsuki as well and I'm just waiting on my first flower now (colour looks a lot like this beautiful pink).
I've a tiny leaved variety as well that is still flowering sporadically.

One of the fabulous things about growing bonsai is as you get old and decrepit your trees get old and beautiful

Re: Azalea Progression
Yep Satsuki for sure, Chinzan or Rukizon, both are mid to late season. I have some that have just finished flowering and others only just starting to budd, and a few that haven’t started budding yet. I don’t expect them to bud for another 3-4 weeks. Satsuki’s can have a long season of flowering when you have differing varieties.
