Problem with Bouganvillea.

Post by boom64 »

Hi all ,
Took several cuttings from a white flowering Bouganvillea .The better half likes to see some flowers.........They all took ok and grew very well for the first year ,I potted them up this spring and have recently noticed a big decline in them. Leaves are very sickly light green and the edges are turning up. I have another couple ,different variety growing in the same soil mix and they are doing fine. Any help greatly appreciated, Cheers John.

They look ok to me. Mine get leaves like that sometimes. If it were sickly they’d be yellow and falling off. Those look a beautiful colour green to me.

Problem with Bouganvillea.

They are quite closed up but the colour is still good. Could be some nutrient issue too. Are any closed up or curled up completely closed? If so, that could be sap sucking insects like thrips. I haven’t seen thrips target bougainvillea before though.

The one of mine that does it is in a shallow glazed pot so I think it’s because it gets hotter than the rest. It is a sister air-layer of two others from the same plant which aren’t affected.

So long story short, I don’t know the cause but I wouldn’t be too worried yet.
