Fig Grafting

Post by Joel »

Hi all,

Just a quick question about grafting figs. Has anybody grafted Ficus rubiginosa 'Little Ruby' onto Ficus macrophylla or any other Ficus species? I know that 'Little Ruby' can be grafted onto regular Ficus rubiginosa and am curious about what else others' have tried.

Cheers,
Joel

Hi Joel

I am trying a few little experiments with grafting Little Ruby onto Rubiginosa...Green island onto Rubiginosa and Nerifolia onto Rubiginosa.

Will give at least one more season before severing the guest trunk.

Give me a day or two for pic

Here we go Joel.

Green island little bit slower, just starting to swell now indicating that it is starting to fuse.

Big swelling great indication it is taking with nerifolia

Little Ruby swelling nicely good signs and the foliage on these three quite healthy.

Expected the nerifolia to be a bit further down the track as other the two can be notorious slow growers for me
These trees are all grown onto PJF seed grown stock.
