Nice chopping-there are plenty of arguments for and against cut paste-in the end it's an individual decision.

So I thought I would update on the progress.
Twin trunk as of this morning

This is a photo of a little ficus that I did not take a pic of before I lopped the top off

Can some positively ID these. I am not 100% sure what they are

Can anyone advise me how to select and fatten the new leader. These figs have gone crazy in the last week, and I haven't had much success with selecting the right branch and scar healing.

Just pick which one you want to be the new top of the tree, and let it grow. Growth is what thickens the leader. If you refer to the Dynamic Figs thread, that will speed everything up

What is was really asking is do I now let the selected leader just grow wildly, or do I need to cut it back to 2 or 3 leaves?

Let the leader grow put some movement into it feed feed feed. I usually leave any branches around the chop scar for a while to accelerate healing.

Great progression Raymond - thanks for updating your post... Things are coming along huh?
I really like the "twin trunk". Nice taper & movement in the trunk. Just looking at the photos I reckon the 3rd one you put up in your last post (above) would make a killer front... Might be a different story in real life, in any case I like this one a lot!

I also like this front, but i will make my final decision once i finish the carving on the other side. The carving is not finished, it was mt first attempt and i didn't want to take too much off first time around.
