Hi Hal, all naturally formed, and actually I'm going the other way; a couple of the thicker very lateral aerial roots where thickening the outer branches, so I simply detached the branch before the root and have made them into their own leaning trees within the 'forest'. We'll see how it goes.

Hi Q, that’s a great concept, detaching branches, I’ve never seen it in bonsai before, have you? Or is it your idea? It turns the tree literally into a forest/ group setting. Absolutely awesome, thanks for sharing. Tim

Hi Timritchie, I haven't seen it before, but it seemed like the right thing to do... I'll post a photo once they leaves shoot and we'll see how it looks

update. this guy was getting out of control so I've simplified him a bit. Took about 10 cuttings/root cuttings as well...

Looks good! Definitely was getting wild when you looks at the aerial roots in the last photo.
