Hello everybody
I drive past this bougi on my commute to work, I only noticed it once I saw it flowering: I said "Holy smokes!! What a big bougi!!" Naturally I could not get the beast out of my mind so I swung by and had a closer look. She's very impressive indeed: obviously shes swallowed a tree through her rapacious growth but up close you can't even tell its there. The trunk is a monster, probably the diameter of a wine barrel's top.
Well me being me I just couldn't drive off without taking a piece of her with me, so I stole a slice!!! Not really, I knocked on the door and this old (Italian?) gentleman begrudgingly answered my call. My enthusiasm was hard to contain and I guess my school boy glee is contagious because no sooner than a few pleasantries were exchanged him and I were hacking away. This was around 2 months ago, I need to take more pics to document things.
He planted it himself when the house was first built, somewhere around the late 80's I would guess (mirrabooka area) I promised to swing by with a picture when I get some results from the cut
Don't know how I'll style her, probably some type of cascade

Always a treat when we ask a complete stranger "can I hack off a piece of your tree" and they say yes.
