These were taken as cuttings some years ago . Time for a bit of work as it too bloody hot to go out and earn a dollar . An old Alpineart tray still holds it own

a few figs along with a very special gifted rock

Its even too hot to finish wiring and trimming but hey , its altogether now and will only improve in time

. I can tell you , my home made rocks are a back saver compared to this heavy bugger .

Hi Mel' its going to be a scorcher today , 45 plus is expected and I have a concrete pour to set up for tomorrow . Its hit 40 plus under the veranda here for the last 3 weeks and all the rain and storms have missed us .

The rocks weighs in at 22 kg, the same size in rendered Hebel would be around 2,5 kg . This composition will hold a special memory for ever and a day , so I will trim and complete the wiring before I tackle any other Bonsai work .

Cheers . Alpine

Figs are about the only thing liking this heat. Its unprecedented here. I have gone through 85 years of heat records. I cannot find a year of so much heat without reprieve. The average here for jan last 45 years is 31.7. We are averaging 38.1
Its a combination of lack of monsoonal troughs and a high pressure system sitting off NZ last 38 days now!that is not normal.

I love the composition. In time it’s going to be quite spectacular. Needs its own pedestal and a lazy Susan that way you won’t have to lift it for repotting, wiring etc. just work around it :tu:
Cheers

Hi Matthew mate we have had one hell of a hot spell , just noticed numerous grow bed pines have been burnt to a crisp now that extreme heat work it worst case senario .Considering I'm only managing 1 watering per day I have been extremely lucky to have only lost on average ! trainer every few days .
Had a big day today 11 hours in 44 plus sunshine boxing concrete peirs for a pour tommorow and trowelling up plaster sheets  I'm a bit burnt myself .

Cheers Alpine

Hi sjc , bit hard to keep cool in this heat , 43.7 as I reply here at 6.20 pm .

Hi Kirky , I might have to make a rotating merry go round hot house for all the figs i have here . Now thats not a bad idea ,
