G,day Ash I had a similar experiance,when I had made a cascade stand from a mallee burl and a piece of and mallee root. After I had put it all together used it a couple of times, got some nice comments.
A mate said it reminded him of an UGG boot that was it,I pulled it apart and put the parts in the club auction.

My names are pretty uninspired also but started a theme & can't start imaginative names now. They don't get names til they're in proper bonsai pots though.
1st one was Bonnie (from Bonsai)- Weeping Fig
2nd was Figlet- Moreton Bay Fig
Then Lea- Satsuki Azalea
Bannie- Banyan Fig
Merf (short 4 'My Exposed Roots Fig')- Banyan Fig
A Picea glauca 'Albertiana Conica' that died b4 I could decide on Albert or Tiana
& a new Chinese Elm that'll be China or Selma

I only have one. It is my first Chinese Elm which was my girlfriends (now my Wife) It was a pathetic little thing so we styled it over a very large rock and buried it. When we unveiled it a few years later we realized what we had created Its majestic name was .."tree humping rock" it is still under the earth and will be for quite a few years

I have one called rooting Frog.

Thoroughly enjoyed reading this thread, after a couple of weeks of missing ausbonsai. Love to see some of these named trees now!

I will see and if I can get some pics for you tomorrow. They don't look there best this time of the year but happy to show them anyway

Hmmm, I’m torn ... I shouldn’t want to see... ‘rooting frog’ and ‘tree humping rock’ but I can’t look away.

And really.... ‘figgy cent’

Many of my trees are named.
Fontaine is a graceful privet that is nothing but ballerina like curves.
The Dancers is a twin trunk Melaleuca claret tops that evokes two people in a sensuous dance
Carr, Aaron, Doug and Julie are trees purchased from those people
The Damned Lepto is the one that refused to die while the really beaut one did
The Escapee is a Kunzea reaching out from the pot into space as tho trying to get away from bonsai madness
Legolas is an elm with a very twisted nebari, reminding me of an elf sitting on the forest floor
Gimli is his more dwarfish and deformed mate [but in a beautiful way]
60 is an azalea collected from #60 front garden - with the owner's approval
Job is a trident that underwent a host of major branch establishment problems
'Ollo' is a small fig with a big hollow in his trunk [rapidly growing over]
and so it goes....
