It has got a lot of positive comment since posting Myrtleford show Alpine. Surely worth offering to sell it to someone young and fit???
Anyone with offers PM Alpine art - soon, before he rips it apart (and you know he will :!: )

Either way I won't have to worry about it competing with my callistemon next year

Hi cre8tiv' , like you say , "a man's gotta do" "what a man's gotta do" . Thanks for the positive feedback and for posting the links to the progressions .

Hi Shibui , after the last comment i have had another look at it . Being a chippy i recon i could gut the rear out and re-build the section without to much drama , underpin the base for stability and shorten it down 100mm so i could easily transport the new look Ishitsuki to next years show :fc: , just to keep the challenge alive ;) .

Still in two minds but something has to happen sooner rather than later , selling is an option , dread the thought of parting with it though , i get way too attached to my tree's .

Cheers Fella's . Alpine

You never know it might end up as rubble if it take to it big time , been know to wreck and kill few things in my time :palm: , then it would be a work in progress "Display only" . Either way it stirs up the interest in "Bonsai" even if its only in a "Horticultural Show" enviroment ;) .

Alpine you have gained some very good realism in this project, mate, I love it, thanks for posting.
I am doing a little with Hebel at the moment, this is inspiring for the rock carving.

Hi wattynine , there is plenty of inspirational material on the site  .This has been a real buzz creating and developing it over the last few years . As with all bonsai its forever changing in size and shape . It certainly get the attention at the show and is a worthy talking point for the crowds that don't get to see bonsai in the public arena :tu: .

I had a plan and now its done and dusted . I ripped into this today and removed the center pillar and replaced it with a new light weight hebel panel . This is now 15 kgs lighter and around 100mm shorter making for what should be a more manageable piece .Off with its head
P1100312.JPG
P1100313.JPG
, then splitting the rock with a sabre saw
P1100315.JPG
P1100316.JPG
then simply glueing the new pice in after it was sealed and pre rendered with a base coat
P1100319.JPG
. Once together a couple of colours were added then a few wires to hold it while it was lifted back into the bonsai tray
P1100320.JPG
. The top fig was added ,
P1100322.JPG
all wired into position
P1100323.JPG
and its all over bar the shouting. The 15 kgs of rubble removed
P1100324.JPG
destined for land fill .

Well after a long absence its time to contribute a few updates . This was hit again by flying debris , under the cover of the pergola of all places . I returned home to find a timber frame had been slammed into the top fig taking 2 main branches out :palm: .

. Out with the screw gun and back into place
P1100658.JPG
. These could have been out of the trunk for a few days .

Unfortunately they didn't take so the next best thing was to grow the rock a bit more , this will have to do for now

.Back to the grow beds for me as I'm well and truly behind the 8 ball this season .

Looking good mate. It's a pity about the damage but as usual you find a solution. Good to see you posting, missed you on here.

Hi Josh , mate I went through withdrawals and was about to right the site off , thank goodness Ken found the issue when all the other telco tech's just blamed everyone else for the problems . Every problem has a solution , one just needs to seek it out . Plenty of updates to do , however I lost over 8000 pics when the hard-drive gave up the ghost , still haven't learnt to back things up .

Good to be back and contributing

I decided to defoliate this works as i needed to get into the heart of the branches a trim hard after removing the wiring .
P1110288.JPG
Plenty of shoots happening all around the trunks and branches , these will be rubbed off if not required .Back under the pergola where it can be viewed by visitors and watched closely .

Spectacular. There is a strong graphic contrast between the vertical flow of the 'rock' and the horizontal branching on these figs that creates a very strong and defined image... Love it! :tu2: stunning...

I love this planting Alpine I think it's an excellent setting.

Will you be able to affix the roots on the lower left fig to the 'rock' over time? Or would you need to grow the rock out yet again haha.

Either way we'll done  very inspirational work.

Hi Ryceman3 , with all the damages and accidents its a wonder it has any defined lines , contemplated "binning it" several times .

Hi Pearcy001 , mate the curtain roots are something different but it has taken quite some time to get them to actually work in this theme , no rock extension , no wiring them back either .

Hi Andrew F , they will remain as they are .

I have noticed even with visitors , the curtain roots stir up conversation , unless this fig , pulls up stumps and walks away it will remain part of this Ishitsuki , Unique , something a little bit different , out of the ord' , bit tacky , It doesn't matter , beauty is in the eye of the beholder and I value each and all opinions .

Cheers Fella's . Alpine
