Hi All,
Some time ago I bought this plant at a church fete. The person selling it didn't know the name of the plant but said it grows into a small bush. I liked it as it had small round berry-like fruit and small flowers. The fruit are about pea sized and when ripe they turn red like tomatoes. When cut open they resemble a tomato inside with about a dozen seeds. For the price of $2 it was a bargain, considering there were two plants in the pot. Since re-potting it some more self-seeded plants have grown from a dropped berry, visible in the second pic on the left. I think I can make this into a bonsai, but it would be nice if anyone can I.D. the plant so I know what I've got.

Check with solanum pseudocapsicum.

It’s a member of the nightshade looking at the flowers. I believe the berries may be poisonous.

Yeah, they are a nightshade type plant.
The berries are just like Frank describes, they look, smell and taste(apparently) like tomato's and are mildly toxic to humans. I wouldn't want to try one to test it out.

Starfox was spot on straight up, it is Solanum psuedocapsicum (Madiera Winter Cherry) it is a Nightshade as stated above and the fruit are mildly toxic. This plant is a weed (it grows on my property here spread by birds) and you should be careful not to allow birds to spread your plant.
