What type of Mel?

Hey all,

Recently took the fuzzballs for a walk around Yokine Regional Open Space and came across this cool “raft style” Mel and was wondering if anyone can ID? In WA generally you only see rhaps, preissiana, lanceolata, linariifolia and culticaris and I “think” the closest would be preissiana though, it could be a Mel from the eastern states I just haven’t seen before.

There were a few different species of Mel’s planted in the area which I could ID. The plant app said alternifloria but, we all know how accurate those apps are 😑 that said I’ve never seen one of those in person.

Any help would be awesome!

Yep I think you'll find you are correct that it is M. Preissiana. The darker paper bark is a sign.
