This entry features a mischievous novice monk sneaking behind his master to climb a forbidden tree cascading over a river beside a village's temple.
Common name: Lilly Pilly
Age in training: 10 years
Size: 30cm high and approximately 80cm wide
Pot: Chinese oval pot ~ 35cm wide

History:
The plant was bought as a nursery tube stock about 12 years ago by my uncle who inspired me into bonsai. It was initially trained to be a shohin root over rock. The tree soon out grew the rock so that currently only a small portion of the rock is visible. The tip of the rock is now completely covered by the roots near the base that are now mostly fused. The original design was a slanting style but then it was thought that it should be restyled to something out-of-the-square for a Lilly Pilly which is naturally/usually broom or informal upright - semi cascade was a daring move. I did have some input in the final design but want to acknowledge the hard work of my uncle.
The tree was in my possession for over a year now. I wanted to enter it in last year native competition but decided not to as it was not ready. Well, it is still not ready now as the foliage need more time to refine after it was let grow freely after the restyling to gain strength.
Good luck to all contestants and thanks for looking.
DK
