Trident Autumn colour
This is just under 250mm and was a self seeded plant about 5 years ago from my next door neighbours tree. Its not the best Bonsai yet but I posted it for its colour.
Also my new camera can create effects thus the second photo.
Regards,
Peter

Nice trunkline for 5 years
going to be rather nice in another 2 or more once the branching fills out

Re: Trident Autumn colour
Love the colour of the leaves in Autumn. I don't usually get such strong colour here in Sydney so I really appreciate seeing this tree in its glory.

Re: Trident Autumn colour
I got red color leaves a couple of weeks ago on one of my tridents...it is a mame. I thought it is a fertilizer burn...he he he! The rest are green. Is it autumn color? Is it genetic?
Now looking at yours must be autumn color...
I am a bit surprised because did not expect autumn color in Africa...so far the lowest temps are 16C at night only.

Re: Trident Autumn colour
Hi Neli,
Yes it is Autumn colour and it can vary genetically and environmentally. Also shape of the leaf can vary. This is why when doing a setting of 2 or more trees it is important to pick trees that have come from the same parent.
Regards,
Peter

Re: Trident Autumn colour
Neli, some of my tridents show lovely colour, and some don't. All I can say is if you want cuttings, take them from this tree as it seems to stick with the cuttings. Don't ask me why cause I don't know!!!!Neli wrote:Thanks Peter...It must be genetic...I have many maples but none of the others have this color...Now I know, it is not fertilizer burn....he he he!

Re: Trident Autumn colour
He he he! Andrew...It must be genetic...I thought of the same thing...but already rooted over 100 cuttings from the rest of the maples before I new it was not fertilizer burn.
I shall use them for root grafting...
