A bonsai in a bonsai...

Hi
I'm new and quite rubbish at bonsai but you know working on it.
However, the other day i had a dream (vision, proficiency call it what you will)... of a tiny bonsai, a teeny tiny bonsai sitting on a dolls house bench under a bonsai tree. It might be a little too fairy garden for real life bonsai growers but my limited knowledge of bonsai is that it gives the illusion of a large tree and i think this would work with the correct sized trees. Do you think this would work? Would i be ridiculed by bonsai growers everywhere?

As long as you and or the person your doing it for like it! I think if both bonsai's are done well then there's no need for negative critiques

The only place it would be out of place, would be in a Bonsai show. it would be classifiewd as Bonsai per se, but almost Penjing / Seikei / just art.

If you get inspiration and knowledge from doing it, then go for it.

Nothing wrong with Shito Bonsai, and in exhibitions. The range of miniatures is Shito, Mame, Shohin, Chuhin, all under 12inches 30cm.

If you like it go for it ... but your greatest challenge will not be from other's opinions, but your own ability to keep the smallest one alive the smaller they are: the easier they are to kill

Oh no dont say that! I'm no good at keeping big ones alive but I was hoping the tiny ones were easier hahaha im over attentive by nature such a hard habit to break

I watched Owen R. make a mixed forest of pines and I think one large elm or a maple...to me the basic is almost the same.
Just make sure you select trees that require the same conditions of growing...
The first tree you posted is African style...Buddleja...and has very particular branch structure. Aither flat top or Pierneef style. Not every tree is suitable for that...and do You know how the branching is done?
