This Shimpaku Juniper was dug in 2016. When I dug it, i didnt check the nebari, i just immediately potted it. It went well during springtime and I decided to do another repotting to a bonsai pot. i was surprised how good the base of the tree is. This year,it was styled and deadwood work was done.

Lots of promise and im guessing eventually you'll work the rootball down to a smaller pot? . I have 3 in the ground grown last 6 years . They have been cut back heavily this year to get some inner growth closer to the trunk to make future branches. one of mine has a base very simular . I also did about 15 procumbans that I bent as a whip 6 years ago . These were dug , root trimmed , pruned and replanted for another year some gems in that lot .

I also forgot to ask how tall is it and don't you hate that weed . iget that flat star type and its HARD to eradicate

Can't wait to see your trees. I was planning soon but I can't, our first baby will be born anytime now.

I will definitely repot this one next year. I've got a suitable pot for it.

This just made it to 25cm. I will check again to confirm. Yeah, they are hard to get rid off. I was cleaning them in autumn and few weeks later they are back.

I checked the height,it is only 18cm tall and base is 14cm.

Nice tree mate, for those weeds, I use a gel type weedkiller that I get from the big green shed. I just paint it on the weeds with a paintbrush .

Thanks Peter. Does it remove the weeds permanently? I tried different weedkiller, it is effective couple of months and they come back.
