As it stands,

This was the front, but most of the growth is at the back:

This might end up being the front:

It'll be another few weeks before repotting - still cold here. The pot will be too large this year, smaller next year.

No flowers yet. Not sure why they're not grown, they can get some good strong trunks in the ground, and they're tough. Just not Fashionable Darling. (And a tad vicious with the barbs.)

FINAL SUBMISSION:

This is how it is now, still over-potted, and with little branch structure yet. I expect to spend at least five years building branches:

This is more the proportion of pot that I will be aiming for:
P1080365_2.jpg
Here it is with a ruler,
P1080363_2.jpg
a battery for scale,
P1080367.jpg
headphones,
P1080368.jpg
and an upright grand piano, in proportion.

Thanks to those who set this up, and to those who contributed.

I'd love an update too, but on a non-bonsai note I have nevrr seen an upright grand piano before!!!!
Can you tell me more about it? Do the strings go all the way up? Or is the top half just for decoration?

Not good news on the tree - all three "Little Favourites" that I've had have died from root rot within a couple of years. Maybe preventative fungicide doses through the year might have been the solution. Great trees, but I can't keep them alive.

Thymetraveller, the piano is a full-length Viennese grand piano from around 1820, with vertical strings to the top and a vertically-swinging action that was rapidly superseded, being a Nasty Piece of Work. For my sins, I collect early pianos.
