I think that's a good call. I considered that but left it on "for now". I'm sort of hoping it will drive root growth where I added the wire.

But I think it will have to be removed "shortly".

Ok Sounds reasonable plan. :-)

Back in the saddle: 2016-2917

Post by thoglette »

This tree's had the leaves burnt off by a hot dry day earlier this year while I was away. The good news is that it subsequently budded back which should allow for a significant reduction of size and span.

Otherwise I've just let it fatten up this last year (as the pressure to style had been off. )

Whatever this species is it's as tough as old boots - the old top was unceremoniously stuck in a pot and has since successfully grown roots.

August update. Took this shot on the 25th, since then some buds have started to swell. Repotted this winter and shortened all the big roots. :fc:

Any idea what it is yet? I'm thinking some sort of fruit tree, but very hard to tell from your shots...

It's growing nicely!

Not really. I think it's a Malinae based on leaf shape but until it flowers or fruits I'm really lost

Also a case of alive-but-looking-worse after 13 weeks of neglect.
