This is gold advice. In my opinion there is nothing worse than seeing a beautifully natural looking shaped trunk... then styled with neat padded clouds of foliage or cookie-cutter branching.

Finally some good news to report. Have reported into a pot(Janet Selby), a bit of a tight fit and would have liked to place it a bit more upright but dictated by height requirements. Happy with progress , will work on getting apex sorted out and a fair bit of wiring to come . Cheers John

Hi all ,A quick update ,I have removed several branches as it was getting a little congested. Working on thickening up the apex at the moment ,still growing strongly and if I can keep it in the sun it should make it.

Really good progression so far mate. If I may go out on a limb a bit here, I think this is the exact progression that Steven had in mind when this comp was started. Aus native material; dug from the scrub; styled by the owner; potted into an Aus made pot; and now starting to look really good.
You should be most proud.

Hi Pearcy ,it is going to be pretty tight for height. Actually have bent apex down to fit size requirements. Hopefully it will come together.

Hi All ,It has been pretty slow in the last couple of months ,however have noticed a marked improvement in the last week. Hopefully It will fill out by comps end.

That's a cracking tree you've got there John, great job!
I understand migration to the roof in search for sun, mine also end up doing similar things... Sometimes it pays off (mostly!) - but with the wind in Melb today it turned out to be not the best idea.
Look forward to seeing the next instalment for your Kunzea, not long to go now...!

Hi All,
Here is my final submission for the comp.Unfortunately it was a tad over 25cm ,a quick repot and change of angle solved the problem. However it kicked out the orientation of the branches a little. In the future I might adjust these and thin out the apex, Really enjoyed the comp ,thanks Steven. Instead of walking past and thinking about it ,actually had to do something ,plus all the amazing transformations that took place. Sorry about quality of measurement photo. The black line on the tape is the 25cm mark.
