Does anyone know when the Sun will be at its lowest path. I am guessing sometime soon, but does anyone know the exact day approximately.

My trees have all been moved within the last 12 months, and I didn't realize how low the sun would go (getting blocked by certain roofs), thus I am wondering how much longer they are going to be subjected to these conditions before the sun starts heading up again each day.

The winter solstice is the shortest day of the year, for us in Australia that is around 20-22 June each year. So still some time yet before that sun comes back!

Yes I'm having this same problem, have moved some/ most of my plants to my garage roof as it's the place that get most sun. Some of my junipers have die back because they had got to much rain and hardly any sun [LOUDLY CRYING FACE]

Actually putting them on the roof is a great idea,
Largely unused space and lots of sunlight. Just have to make sure that they are well watered by preferably automatic systems
Just be aware that they can get lot of reflected light and can cook them easiliy

I had mine on the roof until the possums started eating everything! Now I have them on a besser block shelf. Going to buy another two blocks to raise the height this weekend.

I use a free desktop program called TPE,( you can also pay for a smartphone app...) The Photographers Ephemeris, and it shows the path of the sun and moon relative to the place you're researching. It's connected to Google maps, so you can see exactly where the light will be coming from on any day of the year. Photographers find it handy for positioning themselves in the best place for sunrise or sunset, generally...

The only option I have is to keep moving my plants, so I bought Ikea outdoor benches which can be shifted around as the sunlight shifts. There's a gap of around a metre from where they sit in summer to where they sit in winter.

And yes, roof tops are definitely a great place for extra light!

I also have to move my trees to follow the sun in my backyard, so I bought some Rack It garage storage shelves from Bunnings. They are easy to move around, and you can adjust the height of the shelves. They're not cheap, but it works for me because I don't have many trees.

Yeah the amount of sun my yard get I'm not going to have to worry about that, even on the garage roof think they are only getting about 4 hours sun. Just a bit harder to keep an eye on them up there. Hopefully they make it through winter.

I am a sun chaser too . I end up moving mine ( over 100 trees ) at least twice a year . Then there are the times strong winds are forecast or late spring and summer frosts . My long term plan is to knock down my shed and move it to another location . After that my goal is to build a glass house into the embankment that is behind my shed . Somehow I think this hobby is getting serious .

2. Casuarina cunninghamiana
3. Everything else + dog bed.
