Yesterday we had a beautiful sunny morning and reached 11 degrees.

Then a change came through, dropped to 3 degrees, then light hail and finally snow.

Very cold this morning as well but nice and sunny,

Grant

I don't think winter even hit here. Lowest temps were 5 deg. Only a few days that didn't hit at least 20. Occasionally cold winds. And a few days in the 30's. My only deciduous that hasn't woken up is my ginkgo. Tridents have some hardened off leaves, Japanese maples have started, Elms are powering away and my ash has shot too

No water here again this morning. My new outside thermometer close to the house only showing -2 but I'm not sure how accurate that is. It is usually colder than that to freeze the house water.
However, cold nights are nearly always followed by bright sunny days.
More to come over then next few days.

Spring is slower here but definitely on the way now. Many tridents and Chinese elms all have buds just opening. Flower buds on prunus just starting to enlarge but no flowers open yet.

We just had another -5 here so eventhough I love winter I think Ive had enough of those heavy frosts . Ive suffered some frost damage on the figs in the hothouse from Monday mornings temps . wont know the extent till some warmth comes around.

Hi Matthew mate I have had close to 30 frost this year and I normally get 3-4 only , never experience this for the last 20 years . My figs have been severely burnt in the hot house too , a re-design will be on the cards for most of them .

Cheers . Alpine

Hi Regwac . Woke up to the sound of the snow plough clearing the road at six this morning . The resorts had half a metre of snow we got about half that . More forecast later today . Most of the trees are just white blobs so a few general shots
