Hi, After living in the same place for 18 years our number finally came up and we were hit by a nasty violent storm yesterday, one of those that has black patches in it on the weather radar. Luckily only a couple of my little trees were damaged, the rest were under shelter or on the sheltered side of the house. Not so lucky was a Eucalypt out near the road. It was snapped in half. The hail also shredded a lot of leaves on various trees virtually stripped some of them bare, there is only one mango left amongst the shredded leaves on my tree. Insurance claim also coming up for the car which is now very cute with it's dimples. The fish in the little water feature survived even though the pond had a layer of hailstones floating on top. Hope we don't cop another direct hit like this again too soon.

You both have an amazingly positive outlook given what has occurred. Kevin, your story is just plain frightening. Bloody hell!

Any words from from down here will sound hollow but It is good to hear you are both well. I hope others who may have been hit by the same storm are all ok too.

All the very best of the season - no doubt it will be a different Christmas but hopefully having family and friends around may help you focus elsewhere - even if for a brief period as the clean up awaits.

As an addendum to what I just wrote - perhaps I am going mad but I was sure I saw a related post by another forum member (Kevin - who had lived in the area for 30 years) that discussed the same storm and had glass all over his house but was looking forward to his family coming for Xmas. Alas, I cannot see that response - so perhaps I dreamt it. Regardless ... I hope anyone who encountered the storms in QLD and others in NSW recently are OK!

I walked away and thought about my post and thought this thread and forum is not about me and deleted my recent woes.

However, i shouldn't have deleted my best wishes for all Forum members to have a lovely Christmas.

Copped it at my place too. Hail stones made a mess of some of my tees - especially figs and pines with fresh shoots. Some busted branches, but not too bad and totally recoverable I think.
Car a little dimpled as well, and punched straight through polycarbonate panels above the decks. Got away lightly considering just a few km up the road roofs were lifted from houses.

Thank you all for your concerns, the damage at my place was negligible compared to what some others copped. My trees will recover and the fruit bats will probably get the remaining mango.

Sorry to read about all the damage from storms, I guess it's always going to happen somewhere in Summer! My aunt lives at Bilinga, and when I spoke to her she didn't even know it'd been raining! (She didn't have her hearing aids in....)
