When is the rain gonna stop?!

Australian conditions vary from one extreme to another. What do you do and when do you do it?

Hi Levuccio,
I'm in Winston Hills, a suburb of Sydney. We have been getting some real good rain. It has been raining on and off now for quite a while.

North Brisbane here. It's awesome. Means I can plant more trees and not have to worry about the watering.

But, it's hardly rained during work hours so there are disadvantages...

Guys, if you don't want your rain, send it up here. We'll take whatever we can get. Living on rainwater for the house and dams for watering the garden, we don't mind how much it buckets down. Our water tanks are full, but our dams are about 3/4 full so another 100mm or so would do us just fine.
Regards

Taffy.

Was drizzly and grey up until about a week ago, now we have had a sunny spell, but the best winter's rain in the 7 years we have lived here. Tanks are overflowing, no way am I complaining, a great year, well done, Powers that Be!
Oh, the mozzies are out now, oh, well, price to be paid for water.

What should I be doing with my trees in all this rain guys and girls?

I have left them outside and slightly sheltered under a large lilly pilly, however for the last month it has rained almost constantly here in Brisbane with very little time for the soil to dry out. Should I continue to leave them out in the rain and soak up the water or position them in shelter? May i ask what other Brisbanites are doing with their trees?

Thanks,
Dave

Hi Dave put a brick under one end of the pot so it sits on an angle the water will drain much better that way.
Be thankful for the rain we live on the driest continent on earth.

Thanks for the tip Craig. This will be my first wet season looking after bonsai so i'm just a little bit unsure how much they will take before they drown. In other good news all of the two-needle pines i collected earlier this year are pumping out candles so I'm quite happy my first yamadori session was successful :-).

P.S. loving the rain, I've put in some new plant for the garden and haven't needed to water them once yet.

You're lucky Jamie. From 1st to 8th October we had nothing, nil, zilch - nada. On the 9th we had 9mm, 10th - 1mm and today (9.00am) 13mm.
Regards

Taffy.
