G'day,
Can anyone help ID this little grub that was found in a soft section of deadwood of an Olive?
When I scraped away the soft section I noticed lots of these little guys wriggling around in it.
Thanks,
Steven

They look like baby millipedes to me. Don't think they attack live tissue as opposed to eating rotting, decomposing stuff.

Agree Most will be familiar with the adults - shiny black, about 4-5 cm long with lots of tiny legs that come into the house at certain times of year. Millipedes do not eat live trees so will not harm your tree.

It's a millipede. They are fungi eaters, they don't actually eat wood either dead or alive but live on the fungi growing in the dead wood.

They look delicious.
There are many ways to do things, but only one "best" way.
