Bark eater

Post by Blackfoot »

So, I have a street gang of rogue bowerbirds who are eating the bark of all my junipers!
Has anyone else had this issue and if so how did you solve it.
Bout to get myself a guard cat hahaha

Hoy crap I have the same today but on native Hibiscus!
I have 2 trees on my benched growing on and noticed today dead leaves. When investigated, both have been stripped of bark!

Nothing else has been touched that I can see, and never seen anything on the benches :-(

Luclkilty the trees are not advanced or expensive, but still!
Unhappy Jan!

Looks like the old Possum got these Ken. Stripped two well established trees in my Garden trimmed a foot off all the growth. They love Hibiscus this year. Trees have been there 24 years never touched, this year :x
Scat at the green shed but you have to reapply after any rain.
Cheers

Last weekend I noticed they have also decided that Trident Maple bark is on the menu this week

I have been developing a Formal upright trident since 2005, that i have posted in a few threads over the years but never have created a progressionon it as itis not ready yet. Was homping next year or 2 would be it unveiling!

Anyhow i doubt that will be the case now as the B%&^s have chewed off most of the bark from the roots to the tip! nothing left of it down to the heartwood :crybye:
I have plastered it with cut paste just in case so now time will tell!

Another trident on the same bench copped a munching too, This was developed in the ground since 2011 and was starting to get a nice shape too it.

no bark but plastered with cut paste to seal in whatever might be left!

Ray advises they are most likely rats, but who knows where they are coming from!.
Ratsack baits out in full force now and hopefully they go away :-(

I have fingers crossed for you Ken.
I gave up and made myself an enclosure out of bird netting.
