I am enjoying the morning sun - tinkering with a few bonsai and I looked at the tools I had been using. It made me think.... .... what are my favourite tools? Below they are pictured with the exception of some old Japanese-made wire cutters that I also love.
What are your favourite tools? I guess it varies on time of year, specific jobs etc... but sometimes it just feels good to pick up a quality tool.
While I enjoy using the branch cutter (and many others not pictured), I love both the tweezers and the root rake! Both Kaneshin; so solid. While I try not to abuse my tools - with these tools I can rake hard when loosening roots and dig in when getting some troublesome weeds ... there is never any fear of bending. And the little brush .... it is just kinda fun to use.
Anyway - just a Sunday morning pondering ...and thoughts?

Re: Favourite Tools
I use a metal chopstick - probably sacrilege.melbrackstone wrote:Chopstick for me too.
Nonetheless - a valuable tool indeed! It probably indicates my level of bonsai immaturity that I am yet to view the simple chopstick as my favourite tool. It is rather zen-like to note that a straight piece of wood takes such an esteemed place at the top of a vast array of possible tools.
