Hi everyone
I am thinking to buy a bonsai wood carving power tool as a beginner to learn. Can you please suggest which one is good?

I bought an ozito from bunnings for $50.
Works great and is a bargain.

I use a Dremel. It works well and there are various differently shaped bits available for it. The Dremels are not as cheap as the Ozito ones tho'. I inherited mine from my father who had it for many years, so they are a good quality tool.

Kind of depends what you think you will be carving. Small trees and fine detail a dremel is enough.
If you like larger trunks with deep hollows etc. As I do, then maybe a die grinder is better.
$50 ozito or similar sounds like a good start

If you're looking for good price on burrs, try south east Queensland woodworking supplies, they sell sabre tooth burrs.

I use ozito and a die grinder. Have given the ozito crap for 3 years and going fine. Also they come with a flexible shaft which works great. For a carving bit the 2 bladed router bit removes a lot of wood. Even on the ozito. Be good enough for even medium sized trees. If you do go the die grinder I get carving bits from bonsai sensation. They have a fair range. They Also have a 3mm shaft carving bit for ozito works great about 40 bucks. Have fun mate.

The Ozito I got died after just a couple of hours of use. Then I got a genuine Dremel which is still going.
Dremel/Ozito are small grinders which I find frustratingly slow to remove anything but the smallest amount of wood. If you have any plans to carve out larger amounts or work quicker consider a die grinder and larger cutters or a Arbotech cutter for the angle grinder.

I do use Bonsai Nibblers with my Dremel, super sharp - excellent results. Powerful enough for most of my carvings.

I know they're not the cheapest ones, but will last for a long time!! Good investment
