I am not surprised. Most business have taken a tumble. Many retail and building industry jobs have been lost. I guess buying a bonsai is a luxury these days.

Yep, I'll be on Centrelink myself soon if things don't pick up , might have to buy a surf board and get prepared for the post carbon tax economy

I think they are all too busy on hold with Centrelink
It's too bad your in such a hurry cause the stories I could tell you, Bushels and baskets of stories, hole crates full of stories. But if you can spare a moment I will tell you one story.

Bonsai
Bonsai The imagination Tree - http://www.sashieda.com.au
An amazing collection of established bonsai for sale representing the work of many Bonsai enthusiasts over more than 50 years.
In 2009 Bonsai The Imagination Tree moved from Monbulk to a site it now shares with The Home of Garden Lovers. From the beginner to the enthusiast we have all your needs plants, tools, potting mix, materials for nurturing your tree. Our staff can provide assistance in choosing the right tree or advice on what to do next in developing your work of art.
Bonsai maintenance services
We provide a tree sitting and maintenance service if you are going away for any period of time it is much cheaper to drop your tree off at the nursery and have the experts look after it than have someone come in to your home. At the same time we cam perform an annual check up of the tree and repot or fertilizer depending on your requirements.

Re: The Imagination Tree Retail Nursery changing hands?
Went to Imagination Tree yesterday and was not very impressed. Had some great bonsai already in bonsai pots ready to take home and maintain but nothing you could take home and work on yourself. Only a few pines in growing pots and some maples but didn't look in the greatest condition.Asked one of the stuff about a trident maple and she grabbed a white pine . Not sure if they are new owners due to I have never been there be for but I would not recommend unless you are looking for a well established bonsai and looking to spend some decent money.

Re: The Imagination Tree Retail Nursery changing hands?
Daniel, the current operators of what was The Imagination Tree have just recently re-opened as Shojo Feature Trees. The Imagination Tree, before the old management left to follow other pursuits was a shadow of it's former standard back in the early to mid 2000s. I believe that the the intention of the new management is to return the establishment to where it was in the past and more, but these things do not happen overnight and by admission of the current manager, the place is in transition. The nursery stock that you are speaking of would almost certainly be remnants of the previous management, the new manager assures me that in time this stock will be replaced by better material.Daniel1986 wrote:Went to Imagination Tree yesterday and was not very impressed. With this in mind, perhaps in the future you could speak openly to the staff and management in person about your grievances and get the full picture (in a nursery there is almost always a valid reason for any quality issue perceived or otherwise), before you write about them on the forum.
I have no affiliation with the nursery, but I know the manager and have spoken with him at length about his plans for the place, as someone who has spent thousands in the old Imagination Tree in the past, I am looking forward to what will come of his plans and am confident he will receive my business in the future.
Cheers,
Mojo
