Re: Going to New Zealand
I am off across the pond this July from the 9th. I haven't been given permission by the better half to look at bonsai, but she does like surprises.
Did you find anything when you went across last year Chris?Skippy wrote:I am off to Queenstown, New Zealand in July for 6 days anyone know of any Bonsai Nurseries close by or something of interest, an old forest or the like.

Re: Going to New Zealand
Whakatane ( I can't print how you pronounce it, it sounds very rude) on the North Island is close to a bonsai nursery run by the ex South African couple.
Someone might know there name and details.

Re: Going to New Zealand
Thanks Grant, but unfortunately my escapades will be confined to the South Island around Queenstown. 5 days of skiing on an 8 day holiday.
Further down the track I would like to go for longer.

Pity you will miss Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauotamateapokaiwhenuakitanatahu in the North island. Not much going on there, but it does have a cool place name sign board. Only for wide angle cameras though.....

Roughly translates to "The summit where Tamatea, the man with the big knees, the slider, climber of mountains, the land-swallower who travelled about, played his nose flute to his loved one" (thanks Wikipedia).

Re: Going to New Zealand
Hi Jarad,
If you can get out to Glenorchy at the end of Lake Wakatipu, there's a place called Paradise. It's a good place for some group planting inspiration.
