2014 Canberra Bonsai Society Show 11-12 October

Post by JenniferM »

Hi again everyone

It's almost spring - so it's time for the annual CBS show

Details are at http://www.cbs.org.au/exhibition/

Some of our senior members (one being Grant) are selling some of their bonsai and stock material - which is very exciting. We don't often have such high quality material available here. There will also be the usual array of plant material for sale by members. :D

Grant will also be selling copper wire.

Graham Cook will again be selling his pots, and we will have a range of tools available as well.

We also expect to have some artwork using images of bonsai on cards, prints, and possibly clothing available for sale.

And of course we'll have some fabulous trees on display, and hopefully some more of Frank's viewing stones.

So we hope to see you there.

Cheers

Jennifer

Hi again,

Just an update on vendors.

Leigh Taafe will also be selling plants... Clearing out the remaining Ledanta nursery stock.

And Kirsten Jeffcoat is bringing some of her bonsai artwork (prints, cards, t-shirts, aprons and wallets).

It's shaping up to be a great weekend - again. :tu: See you there!

Hi again

Not long now till the Show.

The display is almost finalised - there are lots of junipers, pines, spruce, cypresses, cedars and elms of all varieties this year - in contrast to last year when it was all about maples!

In total we have about 80 displays, including 2 shohin groups and a display of miniature pots! :tu:

Remember there will be great sales opportunities, with both Grant and Leigh selling plants and bonsai, as well as our normal CBS sales, Graham's pots, Kirsten's art work and tools, books and wire.

And of course the demonstrations and Bonsai Basics sessions.

All in, it should be a great weekend. Looking forward to seeing lots of people there.

I'm not able to get there  ...but any chance of some photos, Jennifer?

The Canberra Shows always have some inspiring trees so I'm hoping for a look at some.

Hi Jan

Yes we'll be putting the gallery of the display, plus random photos from the weekend, up on the website next week. Will let you know when they're available.

Glad you enjoyed it Maryo, and hope you found some bargains, Watto....or at least a good cup of tea!l :)

Looking forward to another busy day tomorrow... With the School of Bonsai guys calling in on their way to the NBPCA.

Then a good night's sleep! :D

Cheers

Hi all

Well it's over for another year - but what a great weekend!

Lovely to see friends from Goulburn, and the visiting group from the School of Bonsai - hope you all enjoyed your visit as much as we did. And that you'll be back next year! :D

The gallery of public choice vote winners and all the entries are up on the CBS website http://www.cbs.org.au/exhibition/

Am working to get a version of the catalogue up with images embedded so you don't have to swap between the images and text doc Will let you know when that's available.

Thanks to everyone who entered displays, particularly our first time displayers, or helped over the weekend, either at the show or at the NBPCA, or who helped with all the prep for the event. Couldn't do it without you! :worship:

Till next year, same time same place - mark your diaries!!!

And thanks for all your work Jennifer, cakes are definitely indicated. The photographs are particularly good considering the poor light levels in the hall.

Cakes are ALWAYS indicated! They're a stape food group aren't they?

John L is responsible for the great photography :tu2: and there were many people who helped make it happen... Both before and over the weekend. Thanks to all.
