Less than a fortnight to go.

I will be doing a demo on Saturday Morning as a double team with Vince ( one of our teachers) and I will be working on this Juniper procumbens
2015-09-27_IMGP4487.resized.jpg
I have created a virtual of what I wish to achieve in the demo, but before i show that, as a little exercise I though I might let you lot have a think and see what you might do with it first.
I know it is only a picture or 2 and you do not get the full feel of the tree

Post a virt or sketch and see what you might do if place before an unknown tree :-)

New front will be third last image.

From this view, first right branch becomes the new leader and bent to the left. Jin from this branch and up?

::EDIT::

If I can walk, I will be there. :tu:

Whatever you do Ken I'm pretty sure it's going to involve a heap of raffia and wire?
One of the fabulous things about growing bonsai is as you get old and decrepit your trees get old and beautiful

How exciting...if I can get the time off work I'll be there with bells on. Does anyone know who will be doing the demonstrations on the day...? And will there be other Sydney based nurseries contributing to the event...? Would be great if all were involved....

Excellent! Just saw this, i'll definitely be there!

I don't really have any bonsai of my own worthy of bringing in, but i'm keen to absorb the collective knowledge that will be present. :tu:

Nope only Ray Nesci as he is a major sponsor of "the School of Bonsai", and I doubt that Ray woud invioe other nurseries onto his site to sell :-)

Most of the Schools' Teachers will there Demoing or Helping out. I have not seen the lineup as yet. Generally about 3 demos each day.

Hi Ken,for a bit of fun remembering photos don't reveal all,I like Pic 1 and Pic 4,Pic 1 my first choice looking I think you have all the parts,my main emphasis would be to bring down the right hand side and split the pad, keep the two on the left get another to the back for the depth, heads all there just needs enlarging,I don't think it needs compressing, heavy or light pads owners discretion, here is a very rough drawing, thanks for the fun ...cheers

Dont forget this weekend is the Schools show.

As for my demo. The suspense is over as here is a Virt of what i woud like to achieve for my demo.
2015-09-27_IMGP4487 Virt.resized.jpg
Currently the tree has little visual impact, and would be just another upright Juni without some drastic changes.
I saw a link to some sketches by Michele Andolfo that were done in a workshop in Canada https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set ... 062&type=1

2 drawings took my fancy and both could be used as inspiration for this tree and are linked below
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid ... =3&theater
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid ... =3&theater

Although the trunk nowhere near as large, I can still get the existing dead bits to link up as Shari and the jins will be doable with the existing branching,
My main concern, is bending the upper section of trunk without breaking as there is a branch close and damage that will have weakened the tree somewhat.
If that happens, the bottom front branch will be used instead but that does not have any taper in it from the trunk to the foliage:-(

Watch this space, and hope to see you there, I wil be there all day saturday.

Do not for get our show this weekend.
I was prepping some of my trees today and looking at options for arrangements of small display and took these as a teaser.

Should be some nice trees on show this weekend.

I've just finished loading the car with trees and stands and am heading off to help set up for the exhibition. :tu:

Looking forward to seeing what others have to display too.
