A reminder that Bonsai Northwest in Yarraville Melbourne is having their show coming up on the 24th and 25th October.
I have attached some photos of last times Autumn show to show you the quality of the exhibition (sorry quality of the photos is poor).
Don't miss it and come and say hi to me in the Sales area. Also doing a demo at 1pm on Saturday. Even Antonio is doing a demo aswell which I think is on Sunday.

fly, saturday morning first thing is where the bargains are going to be. of that im jealous cause i gotta work. hopefully you all leave some for me on sunday.
fly and gerrard, thankyou for the vote of confidence. im realy looking forward to it too! as well as working on a juni,i will be talking about pro's and cons of buying the right material and setting it up. the tree im working on, i recieved at the beginning of the month. its a $70 squamata from baloc. at that price, what you get is not bad value in this day and age of drought. as soon as i recieved it, i got rid of what i wont need and opened it up. i hope to make it an exciting demo, with lots of advice for novices. here's a sticky at the stock im using. with a bit of luck i will transform it and set it up to be a good future tree. all demo trees will be auctioned off

Fly, yeah Saturday morning is the craziest and best time to get there with all the bargains on offer in the sales area.
Tony, nice cleaning up as it will save you heaps of time during the actual demonstration. I have to do some cleaning up of my own on my juniper.
I have been busy collating what I am going to sell at the show and have come up with 34 trees I will be trying to sell. Here are a few that I will be selling and I might actually put up on AusBonsai to see if anyone is interested as I don't think I will be able to transport all of them to the show.
Thanks
David

Re: Bonsai Northwest Exhibition and Sale - October 24th - 25th
I have been home today, getting my tree ready for show on the weekend. A light coat of olive oil on the pot, a little pinching to tidy up the outline and used the tweezers to remove some brown needles.
It will be the first time that I have shown a tree at the BNW show, I know the standards will be high, so I am trying very hard not to let the team down.
I will be there on Sunday afternoon on the show floor, so come up and introduce yourself.
Regards Gerard

Re: Bonsai Northwest Exhibition and Sale - October 24th - 25th
I do hope the show is an outstanding success. There are some very nice tree's being shown of past shows, so I am sure it will be.
However, now I am sure this will start a bunfight. Which is not my intention, what is my intention is to start a discussion on display.
The rights and wrongs also generating publicity for your show.
Now the picture showing the main stage area display. what is wrong with this setup?, stands excluded.
The Tokonoma setting what is wrong with this display?.
Let us start with the main stage of display. you will notice the Direction of several tree going all the same way. Not flowing together in other words conflict.
Of which there should not be. It should reflect a quite serenity.
Now for the Tokonoma while this is very nice again conflict and repetitiveness. The scroll is a mountain scene there is a mountain stone. The tree and the sroll go the same way. While the tree is nice it should be opposite the window. Then it will flow with the scroll . Then an accent plant of say grass. The whole then, will be flowing together to create serenity.
Just some observations.
As I said I hope your show is a very successful one. Cheers Pup. Ducking for cover.

I am on my way to help set up now,
I have seen this tokonoma before, it has a wall on one side only which may be the reason trees always seem to be placed by the window. Not sure what they were thinking but that is my guess
