Re: Vietnamese Community First "Winter" Bonsai Exhibition
Hi,
I took these photoes yesterday 27/June/2009. This is a community project, with
only a few (volunteer) participants. I was not one. They find it hard to get
trees for display. So the responsibilities of filling up the place are pretty
much fell on the organisers.
I hope you are not disappointed with the qualities of trees on display.
I think I will try to help them out also in the future.
And thank you Elias, I did not know about it till your post.

The owner is Mr. Hanh Nguyen's. My favourite.

Photo 17 -- an Asian Ficus. Most probably imported.
Photo 18 -- Black Pine. I think it still has a fair way to go.

Photo 20 -- Cedar
Photo 21 -- Coprosma (New Zealand native)
The owner must be very devoted to this tree. My coprosmas are yellow at this
time of year.

Photo 23 -- Black Pine
This tree belongs to the couple whose owns the Multi-trunk Port Jackson ficus
below. They took it in for a repot demo. The demo was carried out by another
person. I did express my concern about the cold, they just said it will be
all right. I do hope so too, because this is a very nice pine.

This last one, a Multi-trunk Port Jackson ficus, it is my favourite of the
day. The owner told me, it has been in this Japanese pot for about 7 years.
He and his wife just could not attend to their trees -- since they have so
many. And he never actually sells anything.
I did tell her that, I would be really interested in getting hold of this
one

Re: Vietnamese Community First "Winter" Bonsai Exhibition
Thanks for sharing these pictures Viet!
There is a definite and unique style showing through in these bonsai. Were the exhibitors all taught by the same person/school?
I can see why you are particularly interested in that PJF! I'd like to get my hands on material like that too. Do you think they are likely to let it go?
Regards,
Steven

Re: Vietnamese Community First "Winter" Bonsai Exhibition
Hi Steven,
There are about 4 or 5 exhibitors. But a majority is from only one person. So I think
that is why the styling looks similar.
I do not think the owner of Port Jackson Fig would let it go, his daughters are showing
interest in bonsai as well.
Best regards.
