Myrtleford Horticultural Show 2014
Well its been and gone , another very good country show with a good attendance and great display of Bonsai .
A couple of Journo's took some picks and info so there should be a few articles circulating in various printed publications as well as some free advertisements for our club . Many thanks to Neil and the Albury-Wodonga Bonsai club for the support of the local show . I did manage to get a few wires on the trainer I took along but was to busy talking to the public over the course of the day to finish wiring and shaping . Making progress thats all that matters .
Iheard a wisper that some painting was required , just a wisper mind you so i rounded up a few of the Show members and have offered my time to help get the job done . It appears that a grant may be happening to re-surface the floor as well , a good make over is well and truly overdue .
Cheers Alpineart
Sadly I left the tripod at home so most of the pics are a right off . Once again the constant human traffic in and around the Bonsai were keen and eager for more infomation on the methods and care required . It amazes me to think most people I spoke to consider they are not allowed to attend bonsai club shows however many have a bonsai or two at home . Looks like a great display alpine - I am having trouble believing that you were too busy talking to do any wiring though
Regards Tony

Hi Bougy , mate it was a good day and a great array of Bonsai from the humble trainers {mine} to excellent developed specimens {Neils} , and Yes , I have been known to stand around and talk rather than doing the hard yakka , this was one of those rare occasions . I basically took a break from Bonsai although I only prepared most of the tree's a day or so before the show . Real work has taken priority lately and its about time . Day of rest Today , another rare occurance around here "ORDERS" from Karen to stand down for the day .Bougy Fan wrote:Looks like a great display alpine - I am having trouble believing that you were too busy talking to do any wiring though

Young, old, male, female he talked to anyone who even slowed down a little on the way past the display - a real ambassador for our local club and bonsai in general. Ian.
What he hasn't told you are the results of the competition - Alpine 1st in 5 of the 6 classes, Shibui a very poor second each time (I think I saw the judge later with a white cane!)
Well done Alpine. Another great show and display way up here in the bush.

One of the fabulous things about growing bonsai is as you get old and decrepit your trees get old and beautiful

Hi Neil , if it wasn't for your input and assistance I may have given up on the show , a one horse race runs very thin over time . I certainly appreciate all your help both at the local show and and yes the driving force at our Bonsai club .
Next year I hope to see a white painted arena for us to showcase our works and a smaller display area making for a larger more open Competition area , quite certain i can swing that . I still haven't spotted the Judge yet , I recon she needs glasses as my camera could focus with the lighting conditions on the day .
Well done to you too Mr Shibui
Cheers . Alpine
