The School Of Bonsai Display nights

Post by kcpoole »

Last night was the second last Week of the term, so once again was "display night" for us.
We are encouraged to prepare a tree and bring along and for a formal display and critique by one of the teachers.

Last night we had a cracker of a display and many excellent trees were on show. Space is very limitied so we cannot do formal settings which is a bit of a bummer.

Unfortunately, space is limited for photography as well but I managed to get at least 1 shot of each tree.
Enjoy

the remaining trees

A great learning experience for us all.
If there are any other members of the school interested to come along and have a look, the second last week of every term is Display night and all School members are welcome to come along at about 8:30 for the Display and Critique.

Mine are in the second lot, and the Cascade Juniper won Johns' scoring, and Stevens Shohin display was the popular choice.

Must be the time of year KC!
You guys have a display night in Sydney, BSV has 3point display at their meeting in Melbourne and Albury- Wodonga Bonsai Society had Displaying bonsai as the topic for our meeting on Tuesday night as well.
What are the odds?

Some great trees in your pics but I note that a few trees were displayed without any stands - new members? or is that acceptable in Sydney?

Thanks for the comments
Stands are in definitely preferred, and we are slowly getting members educated.
The entire setting is critiqued, and having a stand ncrease the scores

Then only problem is limited space for each tree

Gosh there are some beautiful pots there too. Its weird seeing Ray without a Dark Green shirt.

I particularly love the trees in the 'A Shohin 4 tree display'
