2016 AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL BONSAI CONVENTION, HOBART

The Bonsai Society of Southern Tasmania is delighted that it will be hosting the Australian National Bonsai Convention in 2016.

The Convention's title is "SOUTHERN BONSAI - ISLAND STYLE" to reflect the special place for bonsai that is Tasmania. We confidently predict that your bonsai experience will be expanded and enhanced at the Convention - think Australian natives, as well as the usual culprits of course!

The Convention will be held at the Wrest Point Hotel from 20-23 May 2016. The "lead act" is our international guest, Robert Steven who will be ably supported by Grant Bowie from Canberra, Quentin Valentine from Melbourne, and two Tasmanians, Will Fletcher and Chris Xepapas.

1 May is celebrated in many countries as a traditional springtime festival or as an international day honouring workers.

But, much more importantly, it is the cutoff date for you to register for the 29th Australian National Bonsai Convention being held in Hobart, Tasmania, 20-23 May 2016.

There is also a link on that page which you can use to register your interest in attending so that we can send you some timely reminders as the cutoff date approaches.

There will be a major bonsai exhibition as part of the 29th Australian National Bonsai Convention being held in Hobart in May, 2016.

The exhibition will be staged in the Boardwalk Gallery of Wrest Point Hotel and Convention Centre from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm on both Saturday, 21 May and Sunday, 22 May 2016.

Public admission will be $5.00 with discount for families.

Around 100 native and exotic trees will displayed. Each tree will have been carefully selected to reflect the very best of the art of bonsai in Tasmania. Most trees will have been prepared for at least 12 months especially for the exhibition.

Never before has an exhibition of this standard been mounted in the Tasmania.

There will be a sales area adjacent to the exhibition selling well developed and novice trees as well as bonsai pots, stands, wire and tools. It will be open at the same time as the exhibition.
