Re: Bonsai Week 2018 at the NBPCA
Hi Lisa
Unfortunately Pup is right. We cannot give concessions to this event.
Let me explain so that it is clear for everyone.
Bonsai Week is brought to you by the Bonsai Trust Fund, which comprises of donations from the Australian Bonsai Community and the public.
All facets of Bonsai Week are FREE, however, I cannot be seen to be using donations to our Trust Fund for the purpose of providing food and drink to those that attend.
The $65 is simply to cover food and drink for the evening, all other costs are covered by the Bonsai Trust Fund.
The increased cost this year is as a result of a survey of previous year's attendees, where it was evident that the majority of people would be happy to pay more for the event if there were more food available.
This year we have increased the food, resulting in the $65 charge.
I hope this, accompanied with a more immersive experience overall with the addition of another international bonsai artist, the Australian Bonsai Pottery exhibition, an entirely new experience with Ofer Grunwald's exhibition of "Disconnected Medium" and a guest celebrity MC and auctioneer will make the $65 for food and drink worthwhile.
My aim with Bonsai Week is to give back to the Australian Bonsai Community, I am doing my best to achieve this, all the while promoting our art to newcomers and hopefully growing our reputation on the international stage.
Regards
Leigh

Thanks, Leigh. Understood. I hope the caterers will make it worth everybody's $$, this year. I have no doubt that the demonstrators will be A+.

Re: Bonsai Week 2018 at the NBPCA
Hi Everyone
Tickets are going fast for the FREE Friday afternoon presentation by Ofer Grunwald. This activity is limited by numbers, be quick, once we hit our capacity for the venue I will not be able to make any more room.
Book here:
https://www.stickytickets.com.au/64073/ ... ctice.aspx
Ofer Grunwald will present an audio-visual presentation “Bonsai: From Traditional Art-form To Contemporary Artistic Practice”. Starting off with a fundamental and quick review of the art, the what’s, how’s and why’s behind it. From there progress to general art trends towards abstraction in the past few decades, and then dive into the fascinating and unique aspects of trying to use bonsai as a medium for contemporary artistic expression. From its unique opportunities, to its exasperating challenges.
Ofer Grunwald is a 35 year old bonsai practitioner working mainly in Israel and Europe. He has been doing bonsai for about a decade, but his professional training began in 2008, when he started studying under Italian master artisan Enrico Savini, and his Progetto Futuro bonsai school. Enrico and Progetto Futuro quickly became one of the dominant and most influential schools in Western bonsai. In recent years, Progetto Futuro have driven the revolution of modern bonsai in Europe, re-defining the art-form across the continent.
Today, alongside his ongoing bonsai work, Ofer is constantly striving to push the limits of our medium and to take bonsai to new artistic heights both locally and internationally. Ofer has exhibited, demonstrated, lectured and published internationally and we are delighted to offer you the opportunity to meet this inspirational artist.

Hi Everyone
Just a heads-up for those who intend on coming for the Friday activities during Bonsai Week, but have yet to book their tickets. We have been overwhelmed with how quickly tickets have been selling. So much so that I can guarantee the afternoon presentation by Ofer Grunwald will be fully subscribed in coming days.
If you are coming, book your tickets without delay to avoid disappointment.
See you at Bonsai Week 2018.
Cheers

Re: Bonsai Week 2018 at the NBPCA
Hi Everyone
Bonsai Week 2018 is well under way now. A week packed full of bonsai activities.
All events are now sold out, however there are a small amount of tickets left for the Friday evening event "Bonsai After Hours".
The event has proven to be bigger and better than previous years, and many more tickets have sold.
Tickets are available here:
https://www.stickytickets.com.au/63766/ ... hours.aspx
Carlos and Yannick have been very busy sharing their skills with Curators of the Collection over the last two days, for the remainder of the week it will be the wider bonsai community's turn to learn from them.
Here are a few photos.
Cheers
