Thanks Sue,
The native bonsai scene in Victoria is progressing very rapidly. Most trees in this exhibition have been bonsai for a very short time. My favorites are mostly missing from this particular exhibition, many were shown last year and many were held back bearing in mind that the club will host the AABC convention in 2019.
I am sure the 2019 display will be the best ever, the trees will be hand selected and of the highest quality. Interesting and varied styles and species.
If anyone is keen to see how any of these (2018) trees are progressing, I am sure the selectors would like to understand which trees should be considered.

Thanks for all the work Gerard, much appreciated.

I was particularly impressed by the first E. camaldulensis - beautifully open texture, strong lines in the trunks and sub-trunks, everything graceful but nothing that looks "arranged". It's pretty much everything I'd want in a native bonsai.

Good to see I'm not the only weirdo putting a pitcher plant into a shohin pot. :)

Great display of all the plants!

Very much appreciated Gerard. Seeing the many different approaches people take to there Trees is a real eye opener. Easy to get stuck in your own groove. Cheers John.

Unfortunately it appears that I missed all these wonderful photo's first time round Gerard!
I usually attend this show as well - think it's the first I've missed.

Thanks for sharing!
I'm personally not a fan of some of what I see with some of the Lepto Laevigatum's - heavily stylised and topiary foliage pads.
Each to their own though!

I think the Melaleuca ericifolia pictured is one of the most amazing Mels I've seen. :hooray:
It is absolutely beautiful.

And those Casuarinas are a great start, good to see the direction that they're heading in.

Thank you Rory, I purchased this tree as nursery stock in Sept 2015. Amazed at how quickly it has developed.

Yeah you should be very proud of that one Gerard.

In a few more years that’s gonna be one of the best natural Mels out there.
I adore it Gerard.

You have captured a Mel perfectly. I can’t say it enough.

You should post more progressions if this is anything to go by your stock.
