It's spring and the 2018 CBS Annual Show is not far away.

The show is being held on 13 and 14 October at Canberra High School, Bindubi Street, Macquarie. We'll be in the hall and canteen area - a great new venue with lots of space and great light

Full details are on the CBS website (http://www.cbs.org.au ) together with a map of the new venue.
We're expecting some large setting again, and a few urban yamadori, as well as the usual range of bonsai.

Vendors this year are:
Bonsai World
Graham Cook
Marg Fenn
Shibui Nursery

We're anticipating a well stocked CBS sales table again this year.

We hope to see lots of our Ausbonsai friends there! Let me know if you are comining as part of a group, and we'll organise streamlined entry for you.

The title of this thread suggests that there will be female pigs at this year's Canberra Bonsai Show :o Or does it mean there will be a workshop on planting seeds :lost: :lost:

Well, that should grab the attention if nothing else does.
Are you selecting the stuff for sale here yet, Neil. Pack a nice trident for me, please. Not root over rock.
See you on Saturday.

Ooops..... how embarrassment :palm: :shake:

Took a while for anyone to notice! I think I'll leave it there and people can choose their own interpretation...

But there will be bonsai!!! Maybe bacon (at the cafe), maybe seeds (on the sales tables) :)

See you on Friday for set-up Watto, Neil and Lisa.

I have plenty of colourful azaleas in full flower for the Shibui Bonsai sales table but I need to pack a juniper for the show and a large demo tree for Saturday evening. May not be any room left for your trident Lisa :crybye:

Just pulling your leg Lisa. Of course there will be plenty of Trident maples on the Shibui Bonsai sales table - including this one
advanced root over rock trident $1100 1.JPG
Sorry Lisa, it's a root over rock but maybe someone will want an old, advanced trident.

Someone else must have had their sights on a trident maple, because when I arrived at 10.15 a.m., it had gone. Plenty of lovely plant material for sale, though, including the announced Azaleas in full bloom. See below.
Also a few photos of the Show. I hope Watto follows up, he is a better photographer. It's once again a really top show!

Sorry Lisa I did grab a trident maple from Neil, I had pre-ordered it though. Lovely twin trunk. Thanks also to Neil for the advice on various subjects.

I didn't take any photos of the show trees but I particularly liked the corky bark elm, #20 from memory. Last year's winner is an absolutely stunning group! I hadn't seen it in the flesh.

No worries, gnichols. I'll get a trident somewhere else, sooner or later.
Have fun with yours!

Just to say that the Canberra Times published a very nice article on the Show with a great photo.

Below is a photo of the tree Ruth is showing: a Melaleuca linarifolia "Claret Tops".
