Demonstrators

Our guest demonstrators/tutors are well known and respected bonsai tutors, Tony Bebb (Bonsai Society of Queensland) Andrew Sellman (Sunshine Coast Bonsai Society Inc.) and Clinton Nesci (The School of Bonsai). As well as conducting workshops, Tony Andrew and Clinton will each do major demonstrations. To conclude a great weekend, on Sunday afternoon they will do a critique of the trees on display.

If you don’t wish to participate in the tutored workshops you can join the sunshine club and work your own trees in the grassy surrounds, or finally get that grand carving project under way. The choice is yours – or you could just relax and enjoy the camaraderie of your fellow bonsai enthusiasts in the great outdoors.

Tony Bebb has demonstrated at AABC Seminars and conducted demonstrations for various clubs and events around Australia & internationally. Tony demonstrates all subjects but has a special preference for Literati, Cascade, Windswept and Driftwood styles, including carving. Favourite species include pines, junipers and azaleas.

Andrew Sellman has been involved with bonsai for over 12 years, making several trips to Japan visiting gardens and exhibitions. While in Japan he was able to learn horticulture practices specific to Bonsai varieties, the display of Bonsai and day to day nursery work. Andrew is a qualified horticulturalist and since 2010 has operated his own landscaping and maintenance business. Andrew has demonstrated in Queensland and recently was one of three to demonstrate for the Black Scissors 3rd Anniversary Online International Demonstration.

Clinton Nesci has worked full time in his family’s bonsai nursery since 1989. He holds a Nursery Trade Certificate from the Ryde School of Horticulture, studying bonsai and later becoming a teacher at The School of Bonsai, of which he is the current President. Clinton has demonstrated at many Sydney and country clubs and conducted workshops in Hamilton, New Zealand. Working at the nursery for such a long time has exposed Clinton to many different varieties of plants suitable for bonsai, which has enabled him to expand his knowledge on the growth and possible development of a wide range of plant material. His favourite plant material is Junipers.

I think the article on Clinton needs to be updated as he has not been the president of the School of Bonsai for at least a couple of years now and in fact the man that runs this very forum Mr Steven Hantos is the current president and like Clinton is doing a mighty fine job ;)
