Howdy Folks,
Don’t chuckle too hard but I’m going to give a presentation at the Yarra Valley Bonsai Society on Tuesday 12th March. Huh! What!?
It’d be great to meet some people from this forum if you are about. I know some of the members of my own club will heckle - so you may as well join the chorus.
It’s our first meeting at our new home too: Chirnside Park Community Hub at 33 Kimberley Drive in Chirnside Park. The meeting starts at 7.30pm.
My presentation is a reflection on my first 5-6 years in this hobby - progressing from novice to somewhere close to intermediate. Be assured, plenty of experienced members will attend to correct any messaging that may be misleading.
Come along - you’ll probably learn more about what not to do .... from the mistakes I continue to make - but that’s probably valuable in its own way! I hope to give some tips on how to progress more quickly than I have and perhaps keep a few new folk interested in the hobby they have just taken up too.
For those Melbourne-based folk that are members of this forum - it’d be good to put some names to faces if you do happen to come along.
Cheers,
Mark

Sounds like a great opportunity and worthwhile for people new to get a perspective on what the coming years may hold for them.
Chirnside Park is a bit too far for me to hike on a school night but hopefully there’s a good turnout! I sometimes lament the lack out south east Melbourne clubs with Waverley being the nearest for me

Understood Tim - no drama at all. It is a hike - I live out Cheltenham way and it’s a fair way to go each month! It’s a strange hobby that takes us far and wide!

Hi All,
The presentation went well - which was somewhat of a relief!
Actually, the number of questions, and level of constructive discussion and feedback through the course of the evening was fantastic and reflective of really engaged members and guests.
Something must have gone ok - I have now been asked to do the same presentation at the Warragul Bonsai Group next Thursday 21st March ... it is a pleasure to help.
And I thought YVBS was a long way to go - anyway, if you’re in the area - feel free to drop in!
