Yesterday was the annual Wodonga show. Not much Agriculture or horticulture left at many of these shows now but they do attract people so our club takes the opportunity to promote bonsai and the club. Maybe we help put some horticulture back into the show.
Theo organised the event for us then managed to find a wedding he 'had' to attend leaving the display to Ian (Ausbonsai's Alpine Art) and myself.
As usual, plenty of discussion with passers by. Some quite simple with people who knew next to nothing and sometimes more in depth with those few who already knew some basics or were more interested.
Thanks to Theo for organising the space and to Ian for trees and his presence for the day.

Re: Wodonga Show 2019
The Wodonga show horticulture exhibits closed down about 5 years ago. No new people coming in and the older organisers retiring = not enough people to organise and manage the entries, etc so all the pavilion exhibits disappeared. No cooking, flowers, produce, jams or crafts at Wodonga since.
Last year we approached the show committee about some space for club members to display bonsai and they were more than happy to give us some space in an otherwise almost empty pavilion. We get a venue for a one day display with plenty of people coming through with no venue, setup cost or advertising costs and the show committee get another attraction to entertain the punters.
So - no competition at Wodonga show - just a display of bonsai and time to bend the ears of anyone who shows the slightest interest. I suppose that means everyone is a winner. At least until October when the annual Myrtleford show grudge match comes around again
