Bonsai on Gardening Australia 27/09/2014

Post by tygcaldwell »

I am sure people have noticed but if you haven't Gardening Australia have a segment this week visiting a bonsai collection. 'Jane meets a gardener with a love of bonsai' The ad I saw didn't really expand on this whether it was a single persons collection or bigger I don't know but I will be checking it out.
'Sorry if someone else already posted this I tried searching but couldn't find anything.'

Thanks for posting! I've got it on series link on my Foxtel box, and I've got about 10 episodes to catch up on. I'll watch this one first now!

Very good viewing. First time I have watched anything to do with Bonsai on TV that explained a bit about what Bonsai really is to some people. A lot of people I know should watch this clip - it just might do them some good.

Here is the link to the show's segment. It's 44.4 Mb in size and only goes for a little over 5 minutes. Watch learn and enjoy, if you haven't already.

I agree,

Though short I thoroughly enjoyed watching this last night. A great examples of the feeling and story behind the trees displayed, and a nice way to portray the art to the wider community

The segment showed a connection between Viet bonsai and poetry, philosophy and attitude that is lost on most of us Anglos. Very interesting to see it put so clearly into words. Poetry for a lot of us is something you suffer in school, and avoid like the plague thereafter.

I finally got around to watching it as I was working on the weekend. He is much more philosophical about his plants than I am. Perhaps I would care for mine better if I thought of them as my children like he did.
