More Australian history research
I understand that the last page of Max Leversha's 1968 book "An Introduction to the Art of Bonsai in Australia" has some biographical info. Could someone who has access to the book scan that page and send the result as a .jpg or .pdf file to me? rjb@phoenixbonsai.com
Also, does anyone have an exact or approximate date of when Max passed on?
Thank-you!

as i am flipping through the chapters of the book, i cannot find anything to do with biographical info. the last chapter is titled "some Australian Natives and Their Treatment as Bonsai". what exactly are you after with the biographical info?
as with when Max passed on, the owner of the book now, John H, suggested to be in the late 80s or early 90s.
regards
Tien

Re: More Australian history research
Tien,
One of the online references to Max's book mentioned the bio on pg 34. I haven't actually seen it. I was just hoping...
And I am in touch with my old friend Lindsay (since 2000). He's given me a little more info. I'm always searching for more...
Thank-you.

Re: More Australian history research
hi Robert
a few of the earlier member of the BSV would have memories of Max's involvement with bonsai, John holbrook, Jeff and Marge Vanner, Frank Hoking, just to name a few. unfortunately i don't believe any of them are active with the internet.
i knew of Max through John H. he is probably one of the last person to see his collection before Max passed on. i wonder if there is a way for you to get in touch with any of them to shed some more light to Max's life and his contribution to bonsai.
regards
Tien

Thanks, Tien. I just put an all-points-bulletin on Facebook to start this new direction out. (I've got a few "friends" there.)

RAF matches an anecdote Lindsay Farr shared with me. Dates match some of my other research...
Same Max?

Re: More Australian history research
I knew Max Laversha well and visited his Croydon home on many occasions.
By the way, his role during the second world war was in the RAAF as a gunner in a Catalina flying boat.

Thank-you, Brian, the Catalina flying boat has been added to the story.
Any other pieces to the puzzle, anyone?
