Part of the work at NBPCA is promotion online so that needs to change.

KEN as a moderator here, you will know that the NBPCA is an active or was member here on this site. So if we were to ask a question of them, in the past or they of us it would be answered here.
So where is the matter of ranting coming from.

Cheers Pup.

As i alluded to earlier, I suspect that there are unknown issues regarding staffing, roles or behaviour at the NBPCA that preclude anyone in officialdom from posting here. No idea what that might be but after working with and for quite a few government organisations I can probably imaging several scenarios.

As for my choice of rant word, IMHO when multiple people ask for the same thing over again, then that to me can be construed as ranting. Other people my have differing views and thats OK, but not something to get upset about.

I note that Shannon or NBPCA account has not logged in here ( nor on Bonsai south forum) and Samuel does not have an online presence of any meaningful sort, the repeated calls to please explain and /or show your trees are probably unheard.

If anyone is looking for some kind of rational explanation from any Government organization as regards to decisions made, don't waste your time.
There is a deep seated culture throughout all sectors of government that simply defies logic. It generally stems from a lack of accountability, a free flow of money sucked out of taxpayers by hungry vampires and a less than perfect grasp of reality.

Just an observtion:

Show us YOUR trees?

This is a man who is being employed to work exclusively on other peoples trees.

So show us THEIR trees doesn't count at all?

Cheers,
Mojo

As has been said numerous times, the person you are asking is not on Ausbonsai.
Have you stood on the street and called out the request? it will have about the same result. :lost:

As Squizz said,
lets not flog a dead horse
As treeman mentioned, it is a government venture and they work in mysterious ways.

Liz Clarke e.a. (see p. 1 above) are not required to reply to our questions. Therefore it is no use to ask them. But we can write to her, to state our reservations in an objective way. I did and I am far from the only one.
Bonsai matters a lot to us, and the NBPCA matters to thousands more. Let the decision makers in the P.S. be aware of it and not bypass those on whom success depends to a high degree.

i think what mojo is saying is that he is being paid to look after other peoples trees not his own, so the question itself is irrelevant.

Apart from matters of national security, you have every right to ask or even demand answers to your questions and also to expect a reply regardless of what they may say. It's your money they are using.
Whether that answer is satisfactory is an entirely different matter.

Not completely irrelevant, but I think that the ability to look after and modify trees that are already of high standard should be given some weight.

I'd like to point out that I am completely neutral on this.

This type of scrutiny is the precise reason this entire situation has transpired.

Rather than a lack of accountability (as mentioned earlier), red-tape clusterfunks within the bureaucracy tend to arise from an irrational fear of breaking protocol, an all-consuming focus on the appearance of impartiality and doing everything possible to maintain reputation of the department when faced with scrutiny.

Picture this if you will: Candidate A retains the position on the back of previously doing the job satisfactory and an overall good reputation within the industry, despite having no/inadequate/limited "paper" qualifications. Later on, something catastrophic happens (like a tree dies). Whether the tree's death could be stopped by anyone regardless of their competency, is irrelevant - questions will be asked from up top. The person/s responsible the appointment now has to justify Candidate A's appointment to the position, while it also becomes known that Candidate B, who has superior "paper" qualifications, was overlooked for the role, because Candidate A has mates who said he's a top bloke. The fault for the catastrophe now lies on the person/s who appointed Candidate A to the role, and now must defend themselves against allegations of preferential treatment in the selection process.

Accountability, impartially and reputation of the dept is everything in the public service, unfortunately it comes at the expense of just about everything else (particularly common sense)

i'd also like to point out i'm neutral in this.......
